This is a quick update of what we have been up to during the Ice climbing journey...

Day 1... We travelled for 7 hours by coach to get to Skaftafell Park and when we arrived at our destination we pitched the tents and played a lot of scout games. The scenery here is amazing - we're surrounded by glaciers and mountains. The weather here changes every 15 minutes and we have all extremes.

Day 2... On this day we went for an 8hr hike in this wonderful park where we climbed up the mountain up to 900 meters and we were given the opportunity to enjoy the wonderful scenery.

Day 3... We went ice climbing and glacier walking. Early morning we were all geared up with the equipment and set off for a walk on the glaciers. This was a wonderful experience and soon after we managed to reach our destination.

The instructors rigged the ropes for us and we were provided with three Ice climbs. We can say that we really did well and the instructors were telling us that the Maltese contingent was one of the best teams which managed to reach the top. The weather was extremely cold up there but we managed to keep ourselves warm with thick clothes.

In the afternoon we were taken for a walk on the glaciers were we were shown even more spectacular scenes. The whiteness of the glaciers was amazing and this would be an unforgettable experience for all of us. The day ended up with a campfire where three tribes mixed together and everybody put on some stunts and songs followed by a short party.

Day 4... Today was the Service to the Community Day and we were taken by the volunteers of the campsite to one of the pathways along the walking tracks. We were spread along the pathways in a form of chain and we carried buckets full of soil to fix the walking tracks.

In the afternoon we have a swim in the outdoor pool. Can you imagine you dip in a pool in a 10 deg temperature surrounded by glacier mountains ?
That's all for now from our team.
